The Problem We Set Out to Fix
In safety-critical industries, paperwork can look impressive while risk quietly remains.
Procedures are copied. Qualifications are rushed. Reports are produced by people who don’t fully understand the welding, the materials, or the consequences of getting it wrong. That gap between looking compliant and being correct is where failures are born. NECIT was built to close that gap.
Our Why
Our WHY is rooted in one belief, that the quality of any engineering inspection service is not an administrative exercise. It is an engineering responsibility.
As a UKAS-accredited Type A body to ISO/IEC 17020 and a Personnel Certification Body to ISO/IEC 17024, we operate independently, without compromise or commercial influence over technical judgement. But accreditation is only the framework.
Our mission is delivered through engineering depth in:
- Welding Procedure Qualification (WPQR)
- Welder Qualification Testing (WQT)
- Responsible Welding Coordination (RWC)
- Non-Destructive Testing across conventional and advanced methods.
- Technical assurance from procedure through to validation and final verification
We do not simply check, we understand.
Why Welding and NDT Matter More Than Most Realise
Welding is often the least visible part of a structure, but the most critical. NDT is often seen as a tick-box, when in reality it is the final defence between integrity and failure.
When welding and testing are treated as paperwork exercises, defects pass through systems unnoticed. When they are treated as engineering disciplines, risk is controlled at its source. This is where NECIT operates.
Independence Means Everything
As a true third party, NECIT has no interest in speeding jobs through, overlooking issues, or diluting standards to suit programme pressure.
Our duty is not to convenience - our duty is to integrity and compliance. That independence is why global clients trust NECIT to provide engineering inspection services on complex rail, power generation, nuclear, fabrication, oil, gas and infrastructure projects across more than 90 countries, with our work ultimately honoured with the Queen's Award for Enterprise in International Trade.
What Our Mission Looks Like in Practice
Our mission shows itself in the details:
- Challenging incorrect welding procedures before they reach the site.
- Refusing to accept inadequate qualifications and calling out the fake ones.
- Ensuring NDT is performed by competent, properly certified personnel working to validated procedures.
- Producing reports that stand up to audit, scrutiny, and investigation.
- Providing clients with confidence that their assurance is technically correct, not just administratively complete.
We are often brought in when something has gone wrong. Our goal is to be involved early enough that it never does.
More Than Compliance - Confidence
Clients do not come to NECIT just because they need a certificate. They come to NECIT because they need confidence. Confidence that:
- Welds are qualified correctly
- People are competent
- Testing is meaningful
- Documentation reflects reality
- What is built will perform as intended
Our Commitment
Everything we do, every service, every person we certify, every person we deploy, every decision we make, is guided by our mission:
When what’s built must not fail.
Because in the industries we serve, failure is never just a defect. It is a consequence - and preventing that consequence is why NECIT exists.
